Look What You Made Me Do

Some works of art develop for years in my studio. This piece is one of those slow burns, slowly accumulating it's elements. Look What You Made Me Do is anchored by the textile which was put out for trash night up in Chestnut Hill. The two vinyl records became eyes in my mind and the final addition to the work was the mouth and teeth that I added into the rainbow shape found in the textile. The title is a response to my feeling of guilt over the consumeristic destruction of our planet. How I feel like I had to take up this material and champion it, to save it from the landfill and also throw it into our faces the problems we have created for ourselves and the live-ability of our planet.
